Fall & Winter- By Keren Tamir

Hello Everyone,
Its Keren here with two projects for the Blue Fern Studios blog.
The first one is a layout depicting the beautiful colours of fall.
The second project is a winter wonderland double shadowbox canvases.

"An Autumn Story"

I used the Deja Vu- Un Voyage a Paris paper for the background. Then I started drawing brown leaves with some water-colour oil pastels to mimic the leaves on the ground.

I stamped the brick pattern out of the Essential Texture stamp on the background and I also used the Shabby brick bits behind the photo to double the brick effect.

I also used a chipboard Photo arch on the side of the photo along with "An autumn story" title.

"Noel Blessings"

My second project this month is a set of two 6x6 shadowbox canvases with a wintery theme.

I used the winter flakes and covered them with diamond dust to make them look realistic.
I also used the Winter Forest chipboard set which was covered in gold glitter.

Then I used two separate titles from the Winter title set which I painted in copper acrylic paint.
I used cheese cloth and many other mixed media elements to create this winter wonderland!!

Thank you so much for visiting the Blue Fern studios blog

Have a wonderful day!!

Sandi's November Inspiration!

Hello, Blue Fern Studios fans!
I'm here today to share my November projects ... I love sharing what I've created with all these amazing products!

"Born to be Wild"

First up, I just HAD to scrap this new, funny photo of my granddaughter, Peyton!
She has such a "goofball" personality that we adore! So, I just had to find a way to incorporate it with my Blue Fern Autumn Anthology papers. I've used Parfumerie as my base and layered in Newsworthy,  Gazebo and Calling Cards.

The title chippy was first primed and then lightly inked. When that was complete, I used our new Petal embossing powder.  I went for all-out shine this time around.

You can also see some of the Essential Textures stamping in the upper left corner of this photo.  It is fantastic to work with and adds such depth and interest.

I'm a big fan of framing my photos, so this new Double Swirl chipboard was an easy choice!
It was primed and then misted with our Imagine Ink mist in Leaf.  I gave it some variegation with my ink pad.  The Bits of Honey chipboard was left raw except for a touch of gesso for highlighting.

I love dimension and all these products work together to help achieve that goal.

"The Most Wonderful .."

Next, I decided upon a celebration theme .. New Years Eve, 2014.
This wintery Christmas Vintage Auld Lang Syne was an obvious choice but so soothing to use! It's neutral background can go so many ways.  I layered, tore and fussy cut using Wonderland and Greeting Cards as well.

Of course, I had to make it my own with my Imagine Inks in Winter Mint and Leaf. For shine, I used the new Pyrite Glitter.

My chipboard was all treated the same. I like the cohesiveness that gives a project. It was primed with white gesso and then dabbed thoroughly with Glossy Accents and Diamond Dust. Gives it a real wintery, frosty look .. like glistening snow. The new Blooming Curls chipboard is so unique. I've just been waiting to find the perfect project.

This is a good close-up of some of the stamping used to provide depth and interest.

"Wish"

This one you have already seen when we first introduced the Christmas Vintage collection.
The Noel paper was treated with clear gesso and then super heavy gesso with a stencil. Imagine Ink in "Winter Mist" was misted and spread with water to enhance the stenciling. The "Carribean" glitter was then scattered over the background paper for lots of shine.

The chipboard pieces were all primed with gesso and then coated with the Imagine Ink in "Winter Mint" ( Snow Medley), "Leaf" (Eclectic Hearts), "Jingle Bells" (Garden Window) and "Cotton Candy" plus "Persimmon" (Wish, Wonder, Dream).  The Snow Medley piece was enhanced with "Fern" embossing powder, the Wish with "Poinsettia" embossing powder and the Eclectic Hearts with "Lucky" embossing powder. The Garden Window was misted with "Jingle Bells," then dusted with "Pyrite" glitter.

Paper layers were cut and placed behind the Window. Flowers and bling were added as a final touch.

Autumn Anthology with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, everyone!

I'm here today to share my October Blue Fern Studios projects using the Autumn Anthology collection. Fall colors are a fave of mine, so this was just plain FUN!

 "Memories"

Starting with a vintage photo of my mom, I've used the Le Ballon and Mercantile paper as my base and focused on a few fave pieces of chipboard, the Oval Daisy Frame and the new French Ironworks .. so gorgeous! I painted them with some distress paint and then did some random embossing with a gold embossing powder. I was going for a very rusted look. I finished the pieces off with a dab of metallic patina.

Of course, there is some mixed media in the background and use of the new Imagine Mist in Persimmon as well as the texture stamp. Persimmon is such a great color! I've fussy cut and layering in some pieces from the Calling Cards and some butterflies from Frolic Dans le Jardin.

Close-ups:

Love to frame my photos with chipboard!

This new French Ironwork is so intricate .. in love!

I snipped it into two pieces and used some here.

"Love"

Next is just a very sweet romantic page of my daughter and her husband using the Gazebo paper. I've used lots of the new Imagine Ink mist in Leaf on my background to really give it some pop, then pulled the purple and gold flowers from the paper by adding similar 3 dimensional ones. I completed the background with Texture stamp. Behind the photo are Newsworthy and Calling Cards layered in. The little bird was fussy cut from the Newsworthy paper.

My Iron Signage, Ironwork Edges, Victorian Corner and Love from the Good Vibes set were all treated the same way. I first primed with gesso and then did a little experiment with some textured spray paint from the hardware store. Definitely something that needs to be done outside!! The smell is quite harsh but it gave the cupboard a fun look. After that dried completely, I misted all the pieces with some black mist.

The Doily Bunting (a fave) was left raw because it was a nice warm brown color and seemed to blend nicely as is with my photo.

Love this new Iron Signage piece and can see myself using it a lot.

I've been saving the Victorian Corner for just the right project and this was it.
But now, it's on my re-order list!

"An Autumn Story"

You've probably seen this one already because it was done using the October Sketch. The photo was of myself and one of my uncles taken many years ago at my Grandmother's farm.

The title piece and Butterfly Friends were inked in brown, then some gold embossing was added to the butterflies for sparkle.

Again, just some simple inking on the Seasonal Wildflowers and Berry Stems in green. Then I spritzed them with the new Leaf mist. Finally, I added a little glitter glue to the Wildflowers .. hardy ever use that stuff anymore!

Three Layouts Featuring Autumn Anthology and Frolic

Hi everyone!  Debbie here with you today sharing 3 layouts I created.  My first two layouts feature the
new paper collection Autumn Anthology!  Absolutely love this new collection!  The colors and details
in the paper are beautiful!

I thought the new Autumn Anthology collection worked well with some old treasured family photos.
I love this old photo of my grandparents, my mom and her siblings.  I used Newsworthy, Mercantile, Gazebo and Calling Cards papers.  Lots of layering behind my photo and some fussy cutting.

I used one of the new Blue Fern Studios Imagine Ink Mica Color Mists, Sky on my chipboard title and then stamped it with the new Essential Textures stamps.

Tucked beneath layers of papers I used the Roman Clock chipboard.

Here I've used the new French Ironwork chipboard piece which I left untreated and use the new Persimmon mist.  Leaving the chipboard raw brought out a darker color in the mist.

I also used the new Leaf mist on a mini flourish chipboard piece.

On my next layout I used Calling Cards and Cottage papers from the Autumn Anthology paper collection. Here I've used another treasured family photo of my mom and her brother.
I did some masking on the background and misted with the Persimmon mist.
Here you can see when sprayed on a light background the color is much brighter.

The new chipboard piece, An Autumn Story was covered with acrylic glaze and given a light misting with the Persimmon mist.  I used a Garden Daisy chipboard which I misted with the Sky mist and cut apart to use in two different places on my layout.

The Garden Lattice Bits Chipboard was covered with an acrylic glaze.  Tucked into my flower cluster is the other piece of the Garden Daisy chipboard.

I used a piece of the Symphony border chipboard here in my flower cluster.

My final layout was created using the Frolic collection and was based off of the September sketch.
I used several papers on this layout, Amoroso, Friendship, Mercantile, Dan Le Jardin, Allegro, Secretary Calling Cards ,and Petits Moments, mostly for layering behind my photo

I took the Tea Medley chipboard piece and cut it in half, using it on both sides of my picture.  I primed it with gesso and embossed it with pink embossing powder.

Tucked within my flower clusters of piece of the Floral Medley Frame with I randomly sprinkled with pink embossing powder.

At the top of my layout I used the Jasmine Floral Pendant which I embossed with light pink embossing powder.

I hope you have enjoyed my layouts.  Don't forget that you still have time to enter our September Sketch Challenge.  You can find all of the details here.

Thanks for stopping by!

We are excited to introduce our new collection - Autumn Anthology, designed by the very talented Michele Singh.  This is going to be a long post, with a lot of images, because there is so much to see!

We begin with the paper collection.  In addition to the beautiful colors, you will find an array of dainty lace patterns, a charming cottage and gazebo, classic ironwork, and vintage newsprint adorning this collection of 10 patterned papers.  There are also plenty of items just perfect for fussy cutting, and numerous cards for you to cut apart and tuck into your projects.

But that's not all!  This collection is packed with enough products to get your creativity going, and keep it flowing for quite some time.  Each item in this release builds on the others!
